So I finally finished that flower I was talking about.

Its acrylic and ink, with some digital alteration on top of that - The background is pretty obvious, but some of the red on the flower itself was digitally added in, too.
I was talking a few posts ago about how I tend to break things down into fractals, and this is a good example of that: If you think about it, the whole flower is basically a series of circles or rings stacked on top of each other, which are then broken down further into ovals for the petals. The big trick is trying to take what's basically a hemisphere that you've broken up into a series of flat planes, and canting it all at an angle. If all flowers could please stop growing in such a way that as to require foreshortening to draw right, that would be swell.
Overall, I'm not unhappy with it, though I feel like the digital elements ultimately over complicated the execution of the piece. On one hand, I feel like it did need it to really be "finished", but on the other hand, I just feel like it was one step too many, y'know?
It's nice and dry without being too warm today, so I may take the opportunity to spend some time outside while I can.
