I really like poplars. They're the one of the first big trees to leaf out in spring, and if you climb up in the canopy, you'll find these odd yellow flowers that are absolutely gorgeous but never seem to last. They were on my mind today because, in addition to being some of the first to leaf out, they're also some of the first to turn when fall arrives. They're all yellow at the edges, now, and it won't be long before the others follow suit.

Fall was a real problem, I heard, in Alfred Hitchcock's The Trouble with Harry. As I recall, Hitchcock was determined to film against real, bonafide  autumn weather...which was promptly ruined when a storm came through and stripped the trees bare. Hitchcock didn't give up, though, and had his crew sweep up the leaves and glue them back on some prop trees in a studio instead!

It's been a long time since I was told that story, so it may be off, but it makes for a fun telling.

I need to re-watch Danny Phantom. I've actually got a section of my website that's meant to house my personal thoughts/reviews of each episode, but that was before the website I was using to acquire the episodes was shut down. I've seen the series twice, actually, but it's been a few years, and Danny in particular can be hard for me to capture as a character, so I have quite a few reasons to want to go back to the source.
